
JOB TITLE: IT & Operations Assistant

RATE: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT & Operations Assistant supports the daily technology and operational needs of F.W. Huston Medical Center. Working closely with the IT Manager, this position provides technical support to employees, troubleshoots computer and network issues, assists with technology systems and equipment, and helps maintain the organization's technology infrastructure.
The position also assists with the organization and oversight of facility supplies and inventory, including monitoring supply levels, ordering and receiving supplies, maintaining supply areas, and coordinating supply needs with departments.
This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with technology, solving problems, helping others, and learning new systems. IT certifications are not required; previous experience is preferred, along with a willingness and ability to learn.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Demonstrate a positive attitude and provide responsive customer service to employees, patients, residents, vendors, and other contacts as appropriate.

Maintain confidentiality and security of facility, employee, patient, and resident information.

Utilize Windows and Microsoft 365 operating systems and applications for daily operations.

Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for computers, printers, connectivity, networks, software, and other technology-related issues.

Assist with the setup, configuration, maintenance, and replacement of computers, printers, and other technology equipment.

Assist with network systems, including wireless networks, switches, firewalls, and network connections.

Assist with running and maintaining network lines and connections as needed.

Assist with access control systems, including video surveillance and electronic door controls.

Assist with system administration duties and develop proficiency with the organization's technology systems.

Assist employees with technology questions, equipment use, software issues, and other technical needs.

Assist with technology projects, equipment installations, system upgrades, and implementation of new technology.

Communicate and coordinate with technology vendors and outside service providers as directed.

Monitor facility supply and inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, organizing, stocking, and distributing supplies and equipment.

Maintain organized supply areas and assist with departmental supply needs and annual inventory.

Utilize computer systems and Microsoft 365 to maintain appropriate records related to technology, supplies, inventory, and other assigned responsibilities.

Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn new technology, software, equipment, and processes.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in IT, technical support, computer systems, inventory control, or a related field preferred.

Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft 365.

Basic understanding of LAN systems, wireless networks, switches, and firewalls preferred.

Ability to troubleshoot basic computer, printer, connectivity, and equipment issues.

Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Ability and willingness to learn a variety of technical systems and software.

Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and other contacts.

Ability to work independently while also knowing when to seek assistance from the IT Manager.

IT certifications are not required.
SKILLS:
Computer and technology skills, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, organization and attention to detail, customer service and communication skills, flexibility, basic inventory and recordkeeping skills, and the ability to learn new technology and systems.
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Computer, telephone, printer, fax machine, network and telecommunications equipment, access control and video surveillance systems, dolly, and other business, IT, facility, and healthcare equipment as applicable.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/ MENTAL DEMANDS:
Appropriate communication with vendors and co-workers to perform job duties. Dexterity: must be able to bend and stoop and raise arms over head and lift 25-30 pounds, occasionally and 10-20 lbs. regularly, must be able to spend several hours on feet and walking around facility and must be able to stand for hours at a time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee works in an environment with biological, chemical and mechanical hazards. The employer will provide appropriate training, protective equipment and engineering controls for the protection and safety of the employee. As a condition of employment the employee is required to abide by all risk management regulations including the proper use of protective devices and procedures.
