POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists the Pharmacist-in-Charge in managing the operation of pharmacy, oversight of the hospital pharmacy, and may serve as the supervising pharmacist for pharmacy services at the Senior Living Center (SLC). The pharmacist shall meet all prescription needs of patients, residents, and the public in a timely, accurate manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Manage operations of the pharmacy under supervision of Pharmacist-in-Charge.

Provide supervision, training and oversight of pharmacy technicians and contract staff when designated.

Fulfill physician medication orders for SLC, inpatient sites, and community outpatient needs.

Administer immunizations, as appropriate.

Ensure pharmacy operations and records adhere to Kansas and Federal laws.

Maintain patient accounts and billing, including communication with insurers.

Keep inventory of all medications, biologicals, and controlled substances.

Assist the Pharmacist-in-Charge in performing a monthly medication regimen review of the methods, procedures, storage, administration, disposal, record-keeping of drugs/biologicals, including use of psychopharmacologic drugs for desired responses and adverse effects and prepare a written report with recommendations.

Confirm SLC records of administration are in order and accurate for controlled substances.

Maintain pharmacy computer system and records.

Order medications from wholesalers.

Operate the cash register when necessary.

Demonstrate positive customer service attitude and confidentiality at all times.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must be a licensed pharmacist registered in Kansas. At least one year experience preferred. Must have acceptable KBI record check.
SKILLS:
Basic computer skills, human relations skills, tact, organizational skills, ability to deal with stressful situations; working knowledge of Board of Pharmacy regulations.​
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Pharmacy, wholesaler resources, hospital and SLC software, printer, Opus system, heat sealer, compounding supplies, shredder, and cash register.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/ MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to stand on feet all day.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee works in an environment with biological, chemical and mechanical hazards. The employer will provide appropriate training, protective equipment and engineering controls for the protection and safety of the employee. As a condition of employment the employee is required to abide by all risk management regulations including the proper use of protective devices and procedures.
